The City of Ionia Public Transportation was established in 1980. Ionia Dial-A-Ride (IDAR) is a shared ride, demand response public transportation service.
The intent of the shared ride system is for patrons to call for a ride and then share the ride with others who are grouped with them along the routes to their destinations.
Transportation affects all aspects of a person’s life. Mobility affects the way we live and how effectively we can use community services and participate in community activities.
IDAR operates a fleet of twelve service vehicles, ten of which are equipped with wheelchair lifts and comply with all related ADA regulations.
IDAR is funded through state and federal transportation programs, a millage, local and farebox revenues.
In 2007, Ionia Dial-A-Ride transported over 61,000 passengers. IDAR operates Monday-Friday, 6:30 am – 6:00 pm and Saturdays, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm.
IDAR services are provided in accordance with Title VI, without discrimination based on race, color, national origin, or other prohibited basis. Read IDAR's Title VI Plan.
